LMHS Receives Sole Mission Shoe Donation for Patients in Need

This month, the Lima Memorial Emergency Center received a donation of 62 shoes to be utilized for patients being discharged. Penny Clark, Faith Christian Church member and retired hospital worker, brought it to the attention of her congregation that many people who are discharged from the hospital do not have shoes. With the help of her congregation and Pastor Terri, Penny was able to begin the Sole Mission Project to collect shoes to donate to Lima area hospitals, including Lima Memorial.
"Our mission is to connect the community to Christ through faithful actions," shared Penny. "Faith Christian Church is service oriented, and when a community need is presented, we strive to make a difference and serve with compassion and empathy."
According to Penny, Sole Mission began in 2021 to provide shoes to patients who were being discharged without shoes due to unfortunate emergency situations. To this day, 172 new shoes have been donated to Lima Memorial.
"Faith Christian Church plans to continue the Sole Mission project and making a difference—one pair at a time," Penny expresses.
Lima Memorial is extremely thankful for Faith Christian Church’s donation and is confident that it will help many of our patients in need.
