Lima Memorial to Host Interactive Health Care Career Exploration Event

On Friday, February 14, Lima Memorial Health System will welcome students for an immersive healthcare career ExploringTM Program session designed to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals. Through hands-on experiences in obstetrics, respiratory services and surgical services, students will gain valuable insight into medical careers.
In the surgical services session, students will explore robotic-assisted surgery, handle surgical instruments, and use a video surgical tower to simulate real procedures—offering an up-close look at cutting-edge surgical technology.
In obstetrics, students will take part in a simulated delivery, using Lima Memorial’s OB simulator mannequin to experience the entire birthing process, including newborn care. This session will provide a realistic perspective on labor and delivery.
At the respiratory therapy station, students will examine the effects of smoking and vaping on lung health. Interactive activities will demonstrate the breathing challenges associated with COPD, essential respiratory therapies and diagnostic tests used to detect lung disease.
"By engaging in these hands-on experiences, we hope to inspire students to explore respiratory care and other healthcare careers,” shared Tiffany Thomas, Respiratory Therapist. “This is a great opportunity for students to get a feel for the medical field and determine if this is the right career path for them.”
Lima Memorial’s ExploringTM Program provides high school students with real-world healthcare experiences and leadership development opportunities, helping them explore in their fields of interest and prepare for future careers.
