Today, Lima Memorial Health System announced plans for a $30 million expansion and investment in the health of the Greater Lima Region. This investment will include a new Outpatient Diagnostic and Imaging Center, Welcome Center, Inpatient Rehabilitation Center and Family Medicine & Walk-In Care Center in Wapakoneta. In addition, the health system recently opened its new cardiac area on the second floor of Professional Office Building III.

“As a locally owned and operated health system, we are deeply invested in the health of our community,” stated Michael D. Swick, President and CEO of Lima Memorial Health System. “This $30 million expansion will advance the level of care for our community and provide the much-needed, convenient access to top-quality health care. We will be solidly positioned to meet the needs of our patients and their families well into the future.”

The new Outpatient Diagnostic and Imaging Center will encompass more than 20,000 square feet and will centralize new, state-of-the-art technology, including CT, wide-bore MRI and an interventional radiology suite. Additionally, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, x-ray, pulmonary function testing, EEG and laboratory services will be located within this outpatient center to provide greater accessibility and convenience for our patients.

The new Welcome Center will have an inviting front entrance with a multi-lane drive and large canopy. To further enhance the patient, family and visitor experience, the space will be complemented by an expanded, modernized gift shop, a new café and an outdoor serenity garden. The Welcome Center will conveniently connect to the Outpatient Diagnostic & Imaging Center as well as the Emergency Center.

Lima Memorial’s current Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit will undergo a complete transformation to bring a new level of care to our community. Leveraging the outstanding care provided by our inpatient rehabilitation team, Lima Memorial will create a unique, family-centered, community-based environment, complete with innovative therapeutic technology. This project is being funded through the support of the Lima Memorial Foundation.

A new 16,000 square foot facility will be constructed in Wapakoneta to accommodate the tremendous growth of Lima Memorial Physicians family medicine and walk-in care. The new facility will be located at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Redskin Trail, across the street to the north of the current practice site location. The practice has six providers with plans for continued growth to meet the ever-increasing demands for primary care services. Walk-in care is open seven days a week in Wapakoneta, along with on-site laboratory and x-ray services. Specialty care services will be introduced at the new location as well.

Lima Memorial’s recent opening of its 16,000 square foot cardiac area on the second floor of Professional Office Building III culminated a project to centralize all heart and vascular services, providing convenient access to care for patients. The new space houses the Heart Institute of Northwest Ohio, Ohio Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeons and Lima Memorial’s Cardiac Treatment Center. As the most trusted heart team in the region, many of these physicians and providers have been practicing together for more than 15 years.

Construction for these projects will be completed in phases with full completion expected in 2021.
