Lima Memorial Hosts ‘A New Leash on Life’ Movie Premiere

Lima Memorial is hosting a private viewing of the Emmy-nominated “A New Leash on Life: The K9s for Warriors Story,” starring Captain Louis Bellumoni and his K9 service dog, Star, on Monday, November 19 at 6 p.m. in its Auxiliary Conference Center. Captain Belluomini is a local paramedic who serves both the Putnam County and Hanco EMS departments. His wife,  Jessica Belluomini, is the Supervisor of Care Coordination at Lima Memorial Health System and also make a debut in the film. The documentary focuses the organization, K9s For Warriors, which pairs veterans with service dogs. For each warrior the organization saves, they also rescue a dog from a shelter. The organization has saved the lives of more than 400 veterans and 800 dogs.
