Lima Memorial Health System will be hosting a number of activities to celebrate National Hospital Week, May 12 – 18, 2019. Fourteen individuals will be especially recognized at a Great Care awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 15. These individuals were nominated by their peers for going the extra mile each and every day for patients and their families. Additionally, health system leadership will serve a meal for all associates and volunteers on all three shifts. A Blessing of the Hands will also be held throughout the week that will include an anointing and special prayer for hospital caregivers.
“As a locally owned health system, we are proud of all our dedicated associates who contribute to making Lima Memorial Health System exceptional,” Mike Swick, Lima Memorial President and CEO, said. “Day in and day out, our team gives their very best to the people and community they love and care for.”
About National Hospital Week
Recognized as the nation’s largest healthcare event, National Hospital Week dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.
