New technology provides clearer images, faster exams and patient-friendly features
Lima Memorial Hospital has unveiled its new GE Signa™ Artist 1.5T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner this week. The new MRI scanning system is the most sophisticated 1.5T MRI scanner in the greater Lima region, and one of only five in the country, combining the latest advancements in MRI with the sophisticated engineering of a 1.5T wide-bore system. This next-generation technology is built with patients in mind, providing a whole new level of patient comfort with adaptable coil designs and acceleration techniques that minimize scan times.
The SIGNA™ Artist is redefining the imaging experience to accommodate all types of patient sizes and enables feet-first imaging for all scans that continues to push the conventional limits of MRI. Even more, the Signa™ Artist MRI dramatically improves clinical performance levels through innovative applications that visualize the body like never before.
“We are proud to bring this state-of-the-art technology to our local and regional patients who will benefit significantly from its enhanced imaging capabilities and patient-friendly features,” said Tony Linkmeyer, Executive Director of Ancillary Services and Strategic Planning. “This is just another example of Lima Memorial’s commitment to providing our patients with the latest in diagnostic imaging technology.”
The MRI installation marks another completed phase of Lima Memorial’s new Outpatient Diagnostic and Imaging Center. The new center will provide tremendous accessibility and convenience to patients by centralizing the outpatient services most commonly needed. In addition to the next-generation wide-bore MRI, the center is home to new, state-of-the-art CT technology and an interventional radiology suite. Encompassing more than 20,000 square feet, this new center will also house ultrasound, nuclear medicine, x-ray, pulmonary function testing, EEG and laboratory services.
The completion of the new Outpatient Diagnostic and Imaging Center is part of Lima Memorial’s $30 million expansion and investment in the health of the greater Lima region. This investment will also include a new Inpatient Rehabilitation Center and Family Medicine & Walk-In Care Center in Wapakoneta set to open this fall and a new Welcome Center which will enter into the construction phase within the first half of 2021.
