Know Where to Go for Care

When Should I Go to the Emergency Room?

Unless it's a true emergency the Emergency Room (ER) should not be the first stop.

Examples of when to go to the ER:

• Any life threatening or disabling condition
• Severe shortness of breath / light headedness
• Chest pain; numbness in the face, arem or leg; difficulty speaking
• Cut or wound that won't stop bleeding
• Sudden or unexplained loss of consciousness
• High fever with stiff neck, mental confusion or difficulty breathing
