Etripamil (et-ri-PAM-il)
Helps restore normal heart rhythm in patients who have sudden episodes of fast heartbeat called paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT).

This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to etripamil, or if you have heart failure or heart rhythm problems (including heart block, sick sinus syndrome without a permanent pacemaker, atrioventricular block, Mobitz type II or higher degree heart block, Wolff-Parkinson-White, Lown-Ganong-Levine syndrome, or pre-excitation on electrocardiogram).How to Use This Medicine:
Spray
- Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.
- Read and follow the patient instructions that come with this medicine. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.
- This medicine is for use only in the nose. Do not get any of it in your eyes or on your skin. If it does get on these areas, rinse it off right away.
- To use:
- Remove the nasal spray from the carrying case.
- Do not prime or test the nasal spray.
- Sit down and hold the nasal spray in an upright position with your thumb on the bottom of the plunger and the tip between your index and middle fingers. Do not press the plunger yet.
- Insert the tip of the nasal spray into one nostril until your fingers are touching the bottom of your nose.
- Press the plunger firmly and quickly all the way up. Breathe normally and avoid inhaling deeply. Remove the nasal spray from the nostril. Repeat the same steps with the other nostril.
- Keep your head straight for 10 minutes for the nasal spray to work right away. Do not blow your nose for 10 minutes. If the medicine drips out, wipe your nose. If you do not get the first full dose, wait 10 minutes before using another device. Throw away device after use.
- Do not use more than 2 devices within a 24 hour period.
- If your symptoms do not improve within 20 minutes after the second dose, call your doctor or get emergency medical help right away.
- Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
Drugs and Foods to Avoid:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
Warnings While Using This Medicine:
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have low blood pressure or history of fainting.
- Your doctor may tell you to stop breastfeeding, and pump and throw away your breast milk for 12 hours after using this medicine.
- This medicine may cause dizziness or fainting. Lie down if you feel dizzy or lightheaded after using this medicine.
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Bloody nose, stuffy or runny nose, throat irritation
- Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting
