Lima Memorial Health System, in partnership with Crossroads Crisis Center, will host the Silent Witness display from Wednesday, October 8 through Wednesday, October 15, 2025, to raise awareness about domestic violence and honor the lives of those lost in Allen County.

The Silent Witness Initiative, which began in Minnesota in 1990, uses life-sized silhouettes to represent individuals who have died as a result of domestic violence. What makes this display unique is that it includes silhouettes of men as well as women and children, representing 36 individuals in Allen County who have lost their lives to domestic violence with a conviction since 1990. Each silhouette includes a plaque on the front sharing the individual’s story, giving visitors a personal connection to their lives and legacies.

“Every silhouette represents a person whose life was tragically cut short by domestic violence,” said Olivia DePalma, Mobile Advocacy and Outreach Coordinator for Crossroads Crisis Center.“This display is an opportunity to honor their memory and be reminded that domestic violence affects men, women and children alike. We hope it inspires awareness and action to prevent further loss.”

“Lima Memorial is proud to collaborate with Crossroads Crisis Center to bring awareness to the impact of domestic violence,” shared Jessica Cunningham, Executive Director of Nursing. “As healthcare professionals, we often see the physical and emotional consequences of abuse firsthand. Each story reminds us of the importance of advocacy, prevention and ensuring no one faces these challenges alone.”

The Silent Witness display will be open for viewing during regular Lima Memorial Health System hours from October 8–15. Community members are encouraged to stop by to engage with the stories, learn about available resources and honor those whose lives were lost.
