The Lima Memorial Health System Board of Trustees announced today that Mike Swick, Chief Executive Officer, will retire in July 2026 following more than 25 years of dedicated service to the organization and community.
Swick’s retirement reflects a thoughtfully planned leadership succession process led by the Board of Trustees, ensuring long-term stability and continuity for the health system. As part of this plan, the Board has named Lynn Carpenter, current President and Chief Operating Officer, as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of Lima Memorial Health System.
“Mike’s leadership has shaped Lima Memorial into the strong, trusted organization it is today,” said John Johnson, Chair of the Lima Memorial Health System Board of Trustees. “Just as important, this transition reflects our confidence in Lynn Carpenter, a respected leader whose years of service, institutional knowledge and commitment to our mission position her exceptionally well to lead Lima Memorial into the future.”
Carpenter brings more than three decades of service to Lima Memorial Health System, having held progressive leadership roles throughout her tenure. As President and COO, she has played a key role in driving operational excellence, advancing strategic growth and strengthening engagement with physicians, associates, volunteers and community partners. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to patient-centered care, ensuring Lima Memorial remains well-equipped to address the changing needs of the community it serves.
“I am honored by the Board’s trust and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Lima Memorial Health System in this role,” said Carpenter. “This organization, our mission and our community mean so much to me. I look forward to building on the strong foundation that has been established and working alongside our dedicated associates, providers, volunteers and partners to continue delivering exceptional care.”
Since joining Lima Memorial in 2000, Swick has guided the organization through significant growth and transformation, strengthening clinical services and expanding access to care across the region. Under his leadership, Lima Memorial established the Timmermeister Family Surgery Center, the Heart & Vascular Institute and a Level II Trauma Center, while also developing a nationally recognized robotics program. The health system expanded its regional footprint with the Putnam County and Wapakoneta Medical Centers, bringing primary care, imaging, laboratory services and walk-in care closer to home for patients throughout the region.
Swick also led Lima Memorial through pivotal moments, including the COVID-19 pandemic, while continuing to invest in the future through a $30 million expansion that enhanced diagnostic, rehabilitation and patient access services. These efforts reflect a long-standing commitment to supporting caregivers, improving the patient experience and ensuring high-quality care remains accessible locally.
“Serving as CEO of Lima Memorial Health System has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” said Swick. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such dedicated physicians, caregivers, associates and volunteers who share a commitment to caring for our community. Together, we have built something special, and I have great confidence in the future of Lima Memorial under Lynn’s leadership.”
Lima Memorial Health System remains committed to its mission of improving the quality of life in our communities by providing comprehensive health services and quality care in a family atmosphere.
