Shoulder and neck discomfort for Brian gradually became more persistent, to the point where holding his left hand behind his head was the only way to find relief. Brian contributed the pain to his active lifestyle, including plenty of time on the golf course. A provider recommended he see a specialist, identifying that his neck was the issue. Brian turned to Dr. Jeffrey Lobel at Lima Memorial’s Spine, Neurosurgery & Pain Management office.  

After a thorough evaluation, Dr. Lobel diagnosed Brian with a pinched nerve and bulging disc, recommending an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion procedure. While the idea of surgery was not easy to accept, Brian is grateful for how Dr. Lobel took the time to clearly explain his diagnosis, share helpful resources and give him the space to make his own decision.

Brian moved forward with the procedure and was fully back to work within two weeks. Today, he is experiencing much progress and continues to receive follow-up care from Dr. Lobel and the Lima Memorial team.
