Lima Memorial Health System will host a Healthcare Career Explorer™  Open House for high school students, grades 9-12, on Wednesday, October 16 at 6:30 p.m. Students and their parents/guardians will learn about this exciting program that will provide hands-on activities for youth looking to discover their future career path. “The program provides a unique and dynamic relationship between local youth and Lima Memorial,” states Tina Verhoff, Lima Memorial Human Resources Director. “The result is a program of interactive activities that help these young people pursue their special interests, grow, develop and expose them to unique healthcare career opportunities available to them right here in the community they were raised.” The Explorer™ program is in its second year at Lima Memorial due to the outstanding interest and participation it generated last school year.

The Explorer™ program is designed to provide positive and meaningful real-world experiences and leadership development opportunities for students in their chosen field(s) of interest. By becoming a program participant, students will be able to make informed decisions about future careers and determine if a particular healthcare career is right for them. As an Explorer, students will, participate in hands-on experiences, network with healthcare professionals, learn about the latest technology in health care, learn about educational requirements needed and practice leadership skills. The open house is the first of many events scheduled throughout the year to engage area youth.
