A hospital is more than a place where patients go to receive care, it is a part of the community that fosters health and gives people a sense of optimism. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a healthy and thriving community.

“In recognition of National Hospital Week, we extend our sincerest gratitude and thanks to all of the dedicated men and women who contribute to making Lima Memorial Health System exceptional,” Mike Swick, Lima Memorial President and CEO, said. “We’re extremely proud of each and every member of our team, and we recognize the important role they play day in and day out for our patients and our communities.”

Lima Memorial Health System is celebrating National Hospital and Nurses Week, May 6 – 12. Lima Memorial will host a number of activities throughout Hospital Week, including a meal for all associates and volunteers, along with a gift. In addition a Blessing of the Hands will be conducted throughout the week that will include an anointing and special prayer for nurses and hospital caregivers as a sign of the care and healing they offer to patients and their families.

On Wednesday, May 9, Lima Memorial will host an awards ceremony to honor seven associates and seven nurses for providing our patients with great care. These associates and nurses were nominated by their colleagues for going the extra mile each and every day.

About National Hospital Week

Recognized as the nation’s largest health care event, National Hospital Week dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.
