LMHS Wellness Center at the Lima YMCA

The Lima Memorial Wellness Center at the Lima YMCA has the technology and expert staff to help you and your family through any type of orthopaedic injury or (musculoskeletal) dysfunction.

The Wellness Center utilizes physical therapists, occupational therapists and athletic trainers along with an industrial medicine program to deliver professional evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation.

Licensed physical therapists work with licensed physical therapy assistants and certified athletic trainers to provide custom programs under the direction of a physician. Our athletic trainers offer event coverage to area high schools and various community events.

In addition, Outpatient Pain Management Treatment provides specific therapy using state-of-the-art machines, pool therapy, exercises and application of modalities to decrease pain associated with injury or dysfunction.

Four Hour Pupil Validation Coach’s Clinic

“Moms on the Move”
  • Description: Aquatic exercise program for prenatal women with heartrate monitoring before and after the exercise session.
  • Prenatal conditioning held Monday and Thursday 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Pelvic Pain and/or Incontinence Treatment
  • Description: Utilization of manual physical therapy for the treatment of pelvic pain and/or incontinenece

“One Step Ahead” Performance Enhancement Program
  • Description: Individually designed program to improve high school athletes’ strength, speed, agility, flexibility and overall performance in athletic competition

Osteoporosis Self Management Course
  • Description: Evaluation and multidisciplinary education of patients with osteoporosis or osteopenia. Series of eight classes includes exercise instruction at every class. Prior to the start of the program, a physical therapy evaluation is completed. Progress is monitored and a final assessment is done at the completion of the program.
    • Each session begins with a 60-minute exercise session that includes hands-on training by a physical therapist or physical therapy assistant. The exercise helps to safely strengthen bones and muscles and improves balance, mobility and posture. Following the exercise, a 60-minute educational presentation is given by a nurse, dietitian or pharmacist with time for questions and answers.
  • Classes are provided as needed and are typically from 9:30 until Noon. Call for the start date of the next session.
