Audiology

All audiologists at Lima Memorial Health System are specialists with a doctorate in audiology (Au. D. or Ph. D.) or master’s degree. These trained professionals work to ensure patients of all ages receive the best care available in the diagnoses and treatment of hearing and balance disorders. Along with complete hearing evaluations, LMHS also offers the following audiology services:

Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials (BAER)
This test is used to determine the degree and type of hearing loss for infants and other hard to test populations, as well as being used to determine the location of neurological problems that can occur in the auditory system.

Hearing Aid Consultation/Fitting and Service
LMHS professionals will determine hearing aid needs and fit the devise to each patient.

Visual Evoked Potentials
This is used to assess conditions in the visual system, as well as aiding in the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.

Central Auditory Processing Evaluation
This form of testing assesses function and determines specific problems related to hearing problems.

Videonystagmography (VNG) and Electronystagmography (ENG)
The VNG/ENG tests check inner ear balance as well as pathways in the central nervous system responsible for connecting the inner ear, eye movement and the brain.
