Clinical Cancer Research

The Cancer Institute works to prevent cancer through education, prevention and early detection. In addition, Lima Memorial Health System is part of the Toledo Community Hospital Oncology Program (T-CHOP), a National Cancer Institute designated Cooperative Program. This provides the patient the opportunity to participate in research offered nationally while remaining in his or her local setting. Hundreds of patients have benefited by participating in national clinical trials close to home.

One of Lima Memorial's nationally recognized cancer research trials is Protocol MA 21, sponsored by the National cancer Institute of Canada Clinical Trials Group, which utilized varying chemotherapies in order to determine the best treatment for specific types of cancer.
