Lima Memorial Health System will host its annual EMS Spring Symposium on Saturday, April 8, beginning at 8:30 a.m. More than 80 local emergency medical service responders will be in attendance for this continuing education opportunity.

Lima Memorial provides medical direction to 24 of the region's EMS departments and strives to equip them with ongoing education to enhance their knowledge and training. Featured speakers for the symposium will be from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit who will be presenting information from the Operation Street Smart Drug Education Program.

Corporal Brian Toth, Captain Shawn Bain and Sergeant Michael Powell will be discussing paraphernalia concealment, alcohol, marijuana, pills, heroin, Narcan and maintenance drugs. The Operation Street Smart program is designed to provide current and up-to-date narcotics information on trends, terminology, paraphernalia and physiological effects to those individuals who deal with today's youth on a daily basis.
