Lima Memorial is among an elite few hospitals in the state to earn dual accreditation for superior quality care for heart attack patients. As an accredited Chest Pain Center and Mission: Lifeline® Heart Attack Receiving Hospital, Lima Memorial remains at the forefront of providing exceptional cardiac care. These accreditations, established by the American Heart Association, in collaboration with the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care, were established to improve systems of care for patients suffering from the most severe type of heart attack, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), by eliminating the obstacles that keep patients from accessing and receiving appropriate treatment. “Mission: Lifeline® accreditation emphasizes Lima Memorial’s commitment to bringing together the healthcare resources efficiently and rapidly to improve overall quality of care based on the latest scientific evidence and guidelines,” states Dr. Mehran Arabpour, Interventional Cardiologist and Chest Pain Center Medical Director.

Heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the United States, with 600,000 people dying annually of heart disease. More than five million Americans visit hospitals each year with chest pain. The timing for treating someone having a heart attack can mean the difference between life and death. “This accreditation highlights our accomplishments and will improve the overall treatment and care for our patients and ultimately save move lives,” says Dr. Arabpour.
