Lima Memorial offers minimally invasive surgery for many procedures. Minimally invasive surgery uses very short incisions and tiny tools to diagnose and perform surgical repairs. For most procedures, the surgeon uses a slender tube connected to a small video camera that shows the inside of the patient's body. The surgeon then repairs the problem using tiny instruments passed through the tube, sometimes assisted by high-technology robotic equipment.
Minimally invasive surgery often results in significantly less pain, fewer side effects, less scarring, and a shorter recovery period than traditional or “open” surgery. Many patients go home the same day as the surgery.
